Interesting history:
This was the first parcel of land sold by George Fife Angas, in the Stockwell area to Samuel Stockwell in June of 1853 .80 acres for 140 pounds. Samuel Stockwell built a 3 story stone flour mill on the banks of the Stockwell creek (now known as leighs creek) and Krushels creek. The flour mill still stands and was the last operating flour mill in the Barossa Valley. Samuel Stockwell's first house remains on the land at the junction of the Plains road creek and Stockwell creek. The land has only been owned by 4 previous people, to whom being Samuel Stockwell (1853-1872), Edward Clements (1872-1896), A.E. Boer (1896-1951), Oscar Falland (1951-1969) and John Leigh and Robert Leigh (1969-present).
