40 Macleay Street was previously the Sheraton Hotel and became renowned on 11 June 1964 when music legends The Beatles visited Sydney. The building became famous when The Beatles came onto the balcony to wave to the fans, and Paul McCartney pretended to climb over the Macleay Street balcony.
