I have 4 blocks all in this area.
This block is 594.m2 but has no building entitlement .
No sewer & is bush fire prone but it offers so much more to the right person .
This block would be a great base for adventure, camping and weekend getaways from city life.
Families love it here .
Surrounded by National Parks.
The numerous blocks of land released here were never really sold or used except by the Govt.
They were allocated here for a settlement of people for the Commonwealth Oil Corporation .
The mine and scattered buildings were operational in the early 20th century when Newnes in its heyday was a thriving oil shale town.
Today Newnes is nothing more than a general store and the Little Capertee Camping Area.
Cross the Wolgan River by either 4WD or foot and a short distance from the general store are a remarkable array of well-preserved remnants of the oil shale operation - old coke ovens, piles of bricks, crumbling walls, a huge brick chimney and an old railway cutting - a reminder that once Newnes supported a mining community and was a thriving and productive oil shale town.
Pitch your tent and enjoy a picnic under the trees before heading out to explore the tracks, tunnels and ovens of the historic shale oil ruins nearby, or cool off with a paddle or lilo in the river. There are easy walks for taking in the dramatic scenery. Enjoy a fascinating journey back into the past on Newnes Industrial Ruins walk, and kids will love visiting the luminous Glow Worm tunnel, just a short drive away.
The drive from Lithgow to Newnes, through a valley cut into honey-coloured sandstone cliffs, is one of the most beautiful drives on the edges of the Blue Mountains.
All only 189 km north-west of Sydney via Bells Line of Road and 48 km north of Lithgow at the northern end of the beautiful Wolgan Valley.
Go and have a look ,as it is vacant land then make an offer .
